About Me
We Can CommuniKate was founded by me, Kate Burgess, a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 14 years of experience working in the NHS for Evelina London’s Community Services.
I have experience of working with toddlers & children aged up to 11 years of age, with a range of Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) including:
Difficulty with or delayed talking
Language impairments or delays
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Autism or Social Communication Difficulties
Being difficult to understand due to speech sound delays/disorders
Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia (DVD)
Down Syndrome
Learning Disabilities
Stammering (sometimes called stuttering).
I am trained in a range of intervention approaches, including Lidcombe Therapy for children who stammer, Attention Autism, Hanen More Than Words and The Nuffield Dyspraxia Programme.
I have worked with a range of families and am passionate about empowering parents and carers to be able to support their child’s communication skills at home, through everyday interactions, play and - where necessary - individualised therapy activities. My aim is that as parent/carer you feel a part of the process and an equal partner in finding the best fit for your family, guided by my expertise when required.
I am available for face to face assessment and therapy in your home or my clinic space in Keynsham. Online or Phone Consultations are available wherever you are, and I offer a flexible service to suit a potential time difference.
I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (my registration number is SL28289).
